Standard MBA finance cases still open with a New York listing. This dissertation builds and tests a case library grounded in mobile-money floats, agent networks and wallet reconciliation for Ghana, Nigeria and Côte d’Ivoire. When 96 AFU MBA students used the local cases, they produced more accurate cash-conversion-cycle analyses of their own employers than a control group using imported cases. Students also identified fraud patterns that textbook chapters on ‘cash’ never name: e-float leakage, split-agent collusion, and weekend settlement gaps. The University of Edinburgh should treat African payment rails as the default laboratory for finance, not as colour. Employers in Accra told us they hire for ledger judgement, not for the ability to value a firm they will never see. The School of Business now has an evidence base for replacing at least one core finance case each term with a live mobile-money problem from a student’s organisation.
